Lyfe Kitchen is the name of a new chain that two former McDonald’s executives are going to open. In the next five years they want to open 250 healthy food chains based on a forumla that focuses on healthy eating.
Mike Roberts was once director of the hamburger chain, his partner Mike Donahue was responsible for corporate communications.Three years ago the pair started with plans to work on this project and approached Stephen Sidwell, one of the founders of meat replacers called Gardein.
In the next five years they are planning to open 250 chains which are based on healthy menu’s with meat replacers. Lyfe is an acronym for Love Your Food Everyday. Every meal served at the restaurant remains under 600 calories. Butter, trans fats, refined sugar, and other additives are not used. The menu also includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals.
Preferably locally produced ingredients will be used. Most prices will be between 3 and 10 dollars. Other chains that are surfing to a healthy diet are Clover, Veggie Grill, Tender Greens and Native Foods Café.
